Thanks for explaining how you did those floors. It sounds like a long but worth it process. I might try it. The idea I had for mine was to draw in the floorboard lines onto the wood I have and then varnish it and try to make it look a bit more realistic. Haven't tried it yet. Been trying to get to the measuring…
]]>Thank you! I used this tutorial as a starting point for my "wooden" floor. I did a few things differently though: I used craft glue instead of hot glue; I made each board the same width; I also ended up using a different painting technique for the "wood" boards. After painting the slats black and letting that part dry, I painted one board and then, before it had a chance to dry, I wiped off the paint (going in the same direction each time) with a wadded up paper towel. Repeat application for each board. Anyway, that's what gives it the look of having wood grain. It's super easy and I got a way better result than when I tried the painting technique in the tutorial.
Yeah, the glass has strawberry milk in it. I love how Re-ment adds "liquid" to many of their cups and mugs. It's removable too, so you don't always have to use it.
Those books are so cute! One of my favorite things are the reproduction of the art and text on the inside. It's only about 22 pages or so, and it skips around a lot so it's not like you can read the whole story, but it's still really neat especially since, as you said, miniature books are usually blank. It really makes it look like my dolls are reading actual books.
]]>I can see quite a few things that I missed when I first looked at your photos on flickr. So many little books. Did you say they had words in them? That's pretty detailed if that's the case. Most small books come blank inside.
Does the glass have "liquid" in it, or pretend liquid I should say. I didn't notice that before. That's quite neat.
]]>Thanks, Mom! :XO: I got the pillows, heart, flag bunting and "fur" rug from Paper Doll Productions.
The miniature 1:6 scale books are from Little Things of Interest. She has Charlotte's Web, Raggedy Ann and Alice in Wonderland books I want to get someday too. I think she also makes books in 1:3 scale (that would be for the size of my bigger dolls, I think).
