Here are the last of the dolls that call the bookshelf home, plus a couple of extra photos:

OMG ponies!!! Left to right: Butterscotch (DaisyDayes Pony), McPonysons (DaisyDayes Pony), Owl (Schleich Zhuhu figure), Pony (Schleich Shetland Pony Mare figure).

I just picked this girl up last weekend. Being a fan of horses and centaurs, I couldn't pass her up. Her name is Avea Trotter and she is a part of the Monster High Freaky Fusion line. She's a hybrid of a harpy (note the wings and feathers on her forearms) and a centaur.

Pullip My Melody and a little lamb standing on top of my Azone girls' closet.

A great place to store my Re-ment collection. I used to have them stored in a box, but it's much easier to organize them this way.

Some photos of Cleo that I took several months ago and forgot to post (I seem to do that a lot). Better late than never though, right? This is the Dead Tired version of Cleo. She's dressed in a gown from SouoL by LouoS.

Operetta is the daughter of the Phantom of the Opera. This rockabilly gal's inspiration is Elvis Presley. She even has a pet spider named "Memphis 'Daddy-O' Longlegs" who sports his own little pompadour.

Can I tell you how much I love Operetta? I always thought she was pretty, but since I finally finished her hair (which was such a pain) she's just amazing to me. For me, she's reached Cleo-heights of amazing-ness.

I'm so happy that her hair turned out as well as it did. I love her bangs and victory rolls.

Unfortunately, the curls that I was hoping for didn't turn out. Except for her side curls and bangs, the rest of her hair refused to curl. I think it's because the back of her hair is kind of oily (from the glue in her head?). Instead, I just ran my straightening iron through her waves to bring them under control.

There is so much attention to detail in these little Monster High costumes. I think it's especially amazing considering these are playline (as opposed to high-end collectible) dolls. I should have taken a close-up of her shoes—the heels of her saddle shoes are treble clefs. They're spooktacular!

I had a lot of fun with photo shoot. 'Retta's so photogenic.

Ah, the lovely Cleo. She's definitely one of my faves. I really love her outfit and the blue used for this version of Cleo (Picture Day).

To tame Cleo's wavy tresses, I gave her a boil comb (it was quite tangled out of the box). I also pulled out almost all the gold tinsel, leaving only a few strands in her bangs to add some highlights. I've gotten to point where I just can't stand her tinsel—it makes it so hard to style her hair when your comb keeps snagging the strings that wrap around the tinsel. :/

I photoshopped a little blush onto her cheeks. I had forgotten that my original (Basic) Cleo had blush and I really love the look. So, I wanted to see what this version would look like and photoshopping it in was a safe way to do it. I like the pop of color it gives her face. I'll probably go ahead and add some pastel blush to her now.

Another of my hairstyling experiments, I re-curled Ghoulia's hair because it was a huge frizzy mess right out of the box.

Ghoulia is one of my favorite monsters (along with Cleo and Abbey). This is the Dot Dead Gorgeous version of the doll wearing an outfit from her deluxe fashion pack.

I don't know why, but I love seeing photos of dolls in curlers so I thought I'd share a few of my Monster High dolls who are undergoing some beauty treatments.

I finally got a Skelita! I ended up getting her from Amazon because I couldn't find her at any of the shops near me. She's a bit wall-eyed but, from the photos I've seen around flickr, it seems like most Skelitas are so I'm not too bothered by it.

Operetta also has a bit of an eye problem. I didn't notice it until I got her home and took off her eye mask. (I wish Monster High dolls were packaged without their eye accessories on their faces so that it would be easier to see eye paint, and also so that eye glasses wouldn't put dents in the dolls' faces.) Anyway, I had considered getting a replacement Operetta, but her eye really isn't too bad and can be hidden by her eye mask. In short, she's grown on me.

I really love MH dolls, but it certainly seems to be the exception rather than the rule that they come out of the box with good hair. I've been boil washing, boil combing, de-tinsling, washing out glue, curling hair, trimming uneven cuts, etc. Oh, well, I complain, but it's actually pretty fun. Although, I think my husband is getting sick of dolls sitting on the kitchen counter in front of his coffee maker (I have them sit there until their hair is dried). haha!

P.S. I took these photos earlier in the week. Since then, I've removed their curlers but the curls didn't hold. I don't think I dunked their heads in hot enough water (since I was afraid to make their curls too tight). I think I may try curling their hair with a curling iron. I've seen someone on flickr have good luck with that. *crosses fingers*
