@Delune: It is a bit nerve-wracking the first time working on your doll. But, I've found that it really helps you bond with your doll and feel more comfortable with them. Not to mention, it's kind of fun…or at least I think so. 🙂 I agree with you. It really helps to see owner pics of dolls. Company photos either don't do the doll justice or make them look better than they really are. And I'm glad you like my Shushu. Thank you! I've had a lot of fun with her. 😀
I'm on DoA as shirahime. I don't really post there that often but I've found their BJD database to be really helpful particuarly as I've heard company photos can be rather misleading.
I also meant to say I love what you did with the MiniFee ShuShu girl. She was one I had been looking at off and on. It is good to see owner pics of the dolls I might be interested in.
]]>@Delune: I just looked up Lyre on DoA. He's a really good-looking guy! Congrats!
You're right, his arm snapping back may be fixed by wiring or hot glue sueding. There's an article on bjd_wtf that explains both. There's also a post on DoA with many links to wiring and sueding guides. Hopefully that will help.
Oh, I know. This hobby really tests your patience. haha You have to wait for everything. I've gotten used to it, but it doesn't make the waiting any easier.
]]>Thank you, I must admit when I bought him, I didn't do as much research as I should have and thought ebay was the only place you could buy them from. I am still amazed by the number of companies that make them!
I got a Doll Family 'Lyre'. I do love him but he's naked right now. I made the mistake of not ordering anything for him so now I am waiting for everything to arrive and the waiting game requires so much patience! I hadn't realised how much waiting time is required for everything.
]]>@Delune: Thank you so much! I have fun with my dolls and love them a lot so I'm glad that comes through in my photos.
Congratulations on getting your first doll! It can be a little overwhelming in the beginning, can't it? What doll did you get?
And, yes, I absolutely love the jointed hands. They can be a little finicky (i.e. the tips of the fingers or the joints will sometimes twist around so you have to keep an eye on that so they don't look unnatural in photos), but it's fun to pose them. I'd like to get some thin wire to put inside the fingers so they hold poses even better.
Also, thank you for commenting! :XO:
]]>I'm new to BJD collecting, just recently got my first doll and I'm still trying to get my head around it all.
Your dolls are very inspiring and I love what you do with them and how you photograph them.
I'm looking forward to seeing Edmond and Emily together.
By the way, how do you find the jointed hands? I'm thinking of getting a pair for my SD boy in a couple of months. They look very very poseable.
]]>@Lani: I'm glad to be back too! And, the Snapple is lip balm actually. So you weren't just seeing things. haha Amazingly enough, the kitties stayed away while I was taking pictures. I think they are so used to me running them off now that they usually only hover on the periphery of the scene and look longingly at the dolls. 😉
@Maranwet: I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! 😀 I had fun with all the accessories. It's taken me awhile to collect the small amount I have, but now that I see how much they can add to a scene, I want to get more. 🙂
Emily will make her appearance soon. I took pictures of her and Edmond last night. I think, they look perfect together!
