Cats and Dolls (Part 1 of 11)

My new doll Brandee, who I've been wanting for a long time, arrived on Monday, and the kitties "helped" me open the box.

By the way, this is Sora—my mischievous girl. You can call her "Silly" if you want.

Cats and Dolls (Part 2 of 11)

I had forgotten that Limhwa dolls arrived wrapped as presents. (I had a Limhwa Mano for a very short time, and he arrived that way too. I thought it was a nice touch.) I bought this doll second-hand but the previous owner re-wrapped her.

This is Tristan, or "Mister" or "Boy", really whatever you feel like calling him is fine. He's pretty laid back.

However, he did want me to open the box so that he could lay in the lid. He's a box-addict.

Tristan and Sora really, really wanted the silver paper the Limhwa box was wrapped in (it also had tape on it still; for some reason, they love chewing on tape). I think they hoped I would become distracted with the doll and let them bite the paper.

I kept shooing them away, but Sora managed to grab the whole sheet of paper at one time and took off trotting down the hall toward the bedroom, the length of paper dragging behind her. I was laughing too hard to get a picture of it, but it was very cute (even if she was being very bad).

After the cats got distracted by birds, I was able to finish opening my new doll. Ah, the wrapped mummy phase. This part always makes me nervous. What if there is some damage hiding beneath the bubble wrap?

Meet my new Limhwa Elly. She is going to be the shell for one of my characters—Brandee—who is the wife of Tahlvin and mother of Emily.

Brandee is supposed to be a brunette with brown eyes, but she looks so gorgeous here it makes me wish she were blonde. Also, the Limhwa body is so sexy. I love her hands too; they are so graceful and have the loveliest long nails.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to enjoy her yet, because…yes, there was some damage hiding beneath the bubble wrap:

🙁 Sadness!

My best guess is she must have gotten damaged in shipping. She was strung really tightly and both ankles cracked.

I contacted someone on DoA and she said she could repair the cracks. I'll still be able see hairline cracks after the repair, but at least my doll will be structurally sound.

So, Brandee has arrived, but I haven't been able to play with her yet. *sad sigh*

    The kitties are just too precious and I love that first shot of Sora and the ribbon on the box.

    Poor Brandee. The good thing is she can be repaired though.

    I'm so ready to start collecting BJDs. My boyfriend is going to have a fit.

    @Mon: Yeah, I was really shocked when I first saw her ankles. I've been lucky so far with all my dolls arriving safely. *knocks on wood* The woman who will be fixing her is away on vacation at the moment, but I hope I'll be able to send Brandee's leg part out soon. I want to play with her! 🙂

    @E. Black: heehee My kitties are clowns. And that picture of Sora pretty much sums up her personality—she lives to be bad but gets away with most of it because she's so cute.

    BJDs are fun to collect. But beware: you can never get just one. At least, that's what happened to me…after I promised my husband I would be happy with one doll. I think now he's wishing he never gave in to me. 😉

    Oh my Sora and Tristan how photogenic you are. I love the photo of Sora and the ribbon and Tristan has waves in his flowing neck fur. I love them. Brandee is absolutely gorgeous. The cracks 🙁 how sad. Hope she is ready for you soon. Did you contact the seller? 8)

    first, my condolences for the broken ankles. She's so beautiful. You can change her hair and eye color?

    and I was sitting here with my mouth open. Cats. oh my goodness Sora looks almost exactly like my half Himmie male. Except he has blue eyes and one of them is a little bit crossed. Gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing. Your photos are art. You never find anything but beauty.

    @Mom: Sora and Tristan are natural models. 😉

    And, yes, I contacted the seller. She reimbursed me the money it's going to cost to get Brandee fixed, so that's good.

    @S.B.: Aw, Beth, you're always so sweet to me. Thank you for the lovely compliments. You made my day. 😀

    I can't wait for Brandee to get fixed so I can truly enjoy her. And, yep, she's just wearing a wig there. I have a brunette wig that I want to try on her. As for her eyes, you can change those by opening her head (on this doll, the face pops off) and popping them out. It sounds kind of grotesque, doesn't it? 😉

    @IndisPoptart: Thank you, S! I love my kitties so much, as I'm sure you can understand since you have some sweet cats as well.

    Kara, first of all I am amazed that the cats don't run when they see the camera. Must be all the distractions. I can never get Ozzy to sit still.

    Brandee is incredibly sexy. That is too bad about the ankles. I cannot wait until she is all fixed up though! Almost as much as you probably 😆

    I am always in such awe of your pictures. Even the ones you took of the box are like art.

    @Lani: I must take more pictures of my kitties. The problem is, by the time I get my camera they are no longer doing the cute thing I wanted to take a pictures of. XD

    Oh, and that's a great idea. Maybe she'll have dyed her hair. At least until she goes for her spa-treatment (aka face-up) in August. The blonde matches her current eyebrows best anyway.

    @Gayl: I don't use a flash when I take pictures, so my kitties aren't scared of the camera. In the past, when I used a flash, my cats would either squint their eyes up and meow at me, or run away. ❓

    Brandee's body is amazing! I'm jealous. I want it for me! 😉 Aesthetically, she has the best body of any of my female dolls, I think. (Tahlvin will be happy.) I'm not sure if she poses as good as the others yet though.

    @MDP: It happens to the best of us. 😉 And, yeah, I hope she gets better soon too. I want to play! 🙂
