The Monster and the Maiden: Can You Hear Me Now?
February 17th, 2010

Author's Note: Last Thursday (February 11), I got a shipping notice from Supiadoll that my newest doll (a Supia Rosy [link not safe for workβnude doll]) was on her way. When a package is shipped EMS (international express mail service) from Korea, it usually takes at least four days to get here: 2-3 days for travel and 1-2 days for it to clear customs. With President's Day on Monday, I figured that Emily (the Supia Rosy doll) would arrive on Tuesday (February 16).
So, this inspired me to do my little photostory in anticipation of her arrival. It didn't take me long to write up a rough script, then I took all the pictures Friday afternoon (a dark and rainy day that made lighting the scenes a pain in my ass).
As I was sorting through the pictures Friday evening, I decided to take a look at the EMS tracking site and found out that Emily had already made her way through US customs. I was amazed! That meant she had a chance of being delivered on Saturday. I tried not to get my hopes up though and figured she might still get hung up somewhere between LA and Seattle. However, Saturday came and so did Emily. Fastest delivery from Korea ever!
And Emily is everything I hoped she'd be. The Rosy sculpt is perfect for her, I think. It really embodies the essence of her character. I can't wait to show you pictures of her and Edmond together.
I'll leave you with another picture of Edmond just because he fascinates me in his doll form as much as he does in his Sim incarnation:

What a surprise! A nice blending of both sites. (glad you are back :D) What an interesting little set up you have there. . .is it me or does the bottle of Snapple say lip balm? and why does Edmond have a nicer mobile than me? I totally want to see an outtake with a kitty's paw in the way (ha, ha, ha).

Oh, this is such a treat! I love your sims story. Edmond is dreamy, and all those small accessories add so much life to the shoot (I used to have same glasses Edmond does π ).
Congratulations on getting your Emily!!! Hope to see her here soon.

I've been following your website for quite a while and I wanted to say how much I love all your dolls. They are incredible and I love the characters that embody all of them.
I'm new to BJD collecting, just recently got my first doll and I'm still trying to get my head around it all.
Your dolls are very inspiring and I love what you do with them and how you photograph them.
I'm looking forward to seeing Edmond and Emily together.
By the way, how do you find the jointed hands? I'm thinking of getting a pair for my SD boy in a couple of months. They look very very poseable.

I must try and hunt down info about this wiring I keep coming across. My SD boy's arm keeps snapping back and not holding his position properly.
Thank you, I must admit when I bought him, I didn't do as much research as I should have and thought ebay was the only place you could buy them from. I am still amazed by the number of companies that make them!
I got a Doll Family 'Lyre'. I do love him but he's naked right now. I made the mistake of not ordering anything for him so now I am waiting for everything to arrive and the waiting game requires so much patience! I hadn't realised how much waiting time is required for everything.

Thanks for those links Kara. The question is, am I brave enough to attempt it.
I'm on DoA as shirahime. I don't really post there that often but I've found their BJD database to be really helpful particuarly as I've heard company photos can be rather misleading.
I also meant to say I love what you did with the MiniFee ShuShu girl. She was one I had been looking at off and on. It is good to see owner pics of the dolls I might be interested in.
