Fitting Wigs

June 1st, 2008

Edited June 3, 2008: Thanks to my awesome Sis, my little doll now has a name. Please meet Wednesday! She's named after the day she arrived and another famous Wednesday.

For the past three days, since she arrived, the Lati Green Girl has been sitting around in her pajamas.

Wig Fitting (5 of 5)

A couple weeks before she arrived, I received three mohair wigs by Tinybear. As Tinybear warns in the pamphlet she includes with her wigs, the wig caps were a bit tight and I couldn't get them over my doll's head.

So, following Tinybear's instructions, I wet the leather wig caps and then stretched them gently until I could fit them over her head to dry. I put plastic wrap over her head to protect from water damage and staining.

The above wig was the first one to finish drying so in this picture, she actually isn't wearing the protective plastic since the leather has already dry. Of the three wigs, I think this Grape one is my favorite. It matches her make-up perfectly.

This is how I set the plastic wrap on her head. I made sure it was long enough that the wet strands of fur wouldn't stain her skin or pajamas.

You can see here how the plastic wrap sits under the wig. This one is the Summer Fruits color, I think. It reminds me of cotton candy.

This was the last wig that had to dry. It just finished drying this morning actually (it seemed to take about 24 hours for them to fully dry) and it's a lot poofier now.

This one is Amber Swirl.

I've had this wicker chair forever. I used to have a teddy bear sitting in it, but I think the Lati Green Girl has claimed it. 🙂

The Amber Swirl looks so gorgeous on her! *0*
Maybe that should be her perminate (can't spell)hair?

    Nice chair, by the way.

  2. Kara says:

The Amber Swirl and Grape are definitely my faves. I'm sure she'll be switching wigs a lot though (I love wigs and she has a few more I haven't shown) so I'm not sure she'll have a permanent wig or not. Although, I used to say the same about Ethyn, and he seems to have settled into a wig that he wears almost all the time now. So, never say never, I suppose. haha

Oh, and about the chair, thanks! I think it used to be my aunt's.

  3. Reyoko says:

Your aunts? Hehe. Well, I think it's been officially stolen. ^-^
Got a name for her yet?

  4. Kara says:

heehee It was officially stolen long ago. I had a teddy that had been keeping it warm until now.

Oh, and the little girl has a name now–Wednesday (after the day she arrived and Wednesday Addams). My sister actually came up with the name and I love it. I'm thinking "Golightly" will be her last name.

  5. Reyoko says:

Wednesday Addams? ^-^ I like that. Has a certain ring to it.
But isn't that the name of the Adams family's only daughter? o.O She's pure goth!

  6. Kara says:

Well, yeah, but she's not supposed to be a direct knock-off of Wednesday Addams. XD Here's my thinking: it's more like she was named for the day she arrived and it doesn't sound weird because there is actually a precedence for the name Wednesday (i.e. Wednesday Addams). Although, my girl does have a goth side to her as well (look at the outfit she came in…heehee).

I wanted my girl to have a slightly unusual name since she is so often lost in her fantasy worlds and daydreams. I think "Wednesday Golightly" fits her wonderfully. 🙂

  7. Lani says:

I'm glad you mentioned her "goth-like" quality because when I first saw her she reminded me of that character Kristen Dunst played in Interview with a Vampire.

Wednesday is a great name and I adore Wednesday Addams. . .I'll be looking forward to seeing how you dress her up! 😀

  8. Kara says:

Oh, yeah! I can totally see that. Just get her some blonde ringlets. haha Oh, and she has quite the wardrobe so it'll be fun dressing her up.

  9. Cassie says:

Ahhhhh…cute name. Wednesday…the middle of the week. Her wigs are adorable, and look very nice on her cute lil' head.
