Doll Chat

Sometimes, I think the anticipation and planning for a new doll is the best part. Yep, I have a new doll on her way. Hey, Wednesday needs a big sister, right?

I'm getting a doll that I fell in love with last year around the time when I first got my Hound Ethyn. She's a Minifee Shushu by Fairyland.

I really just love every thing about her: her cute face, her expressive hands, how amazingly poseable she is (based on pictures I've seen, she'll be my most poseable doll). I ordered her a la carte through Denver Doll and got her the Active Line, small bust body plus hands 4, 6 and 8. According to Paula at Denver Doll, the doll will arrive in 4-6 weeks (starting August 11th), but I'm going to gird myself for 2 months as most of the dolls I order seem to take that long. Then, if she gets here sooner, it will be a nice surprise!

In the meantime, I've been thinking about names for her. So far, I've narrowed it down to three: Robin, Scout and Fred (a nickname my dad used to call me when I was little…heehee). I think I'm leaning more towards Robin or Scout. Despite her mature-looking body, I've decided to dress her in loose-fitting clothes so that she looks like a young teenage girl of around 13. So, I think she can pull off the name Scout, which seems like a young girl's nickname to me. Robin is kind of ageless and Fred could be a nickname for Fredrika or something. I probably won't make my final decision until I have her in my hands, but, still, it's nice to have some names floating around.

Anyway, moving on…I want to rant about my Spinel. I still haven't taken any pictures of him even though I've long since finished blushing him. The poor guy doesn't even have a name yet. I think it's because he feels incomplete to me for some reason. I'm not really happy with the lips I did plus I've decided that I'm not real excited about his eye makeup either. I've tried to like them, but really I want more natural looking eyes and not smoky/gothy makeup. I ordered him a new wig a few weeks ago and it should arrive soon. Maybe that will help pull his look together.

*sigh* I really want to like this doll. He's a gorgeous sculpt and his body is amazing, but he hasn't clicked with me yet. Maybe I should try to find a professional face-up person to send him to. I don't know…it's kind of depressing. Maybe I'll just take some pictures of his body because I'm actually pleased with how his blushing turned out.

    Hi honey,
    She has a lovely pixie like face. Her hands look delicate and very posable. Aunt Cher has a doll with pink wigs and dainty face also. Paula is a great one to order from. Good luck on your Spinel. Fred an endearment of when you were young. I also like Robin. :XO: Mom

    About the Minifee Shushu:
    Wow! 😯 I really like the way she looks. Gorgeous! I can totally understand why you've fallen in love with her. Heh. Personally I think Scout's a good name. 🙂 Sort of matches Wednesday's name for me…for some reason…yeah.

    About the Spinel:
    I'm sure it's just taking awhile. Not everyone falls in love at first sight, right? 😉 Just give it some time. The wig will probably be the finishing touch. Plus… ::-*: Obsessing over only his body isn't bad either. Heh, heh.

    Reyoko: Yeah, I like the way Scout and Wednesday sound together too. And, the wig arrived for my Spinel on Friday. Wow! Finally, he clicked. It looks wonderful with his skintone, eyes and lips. Yay! He looks so sultry and handsome. Now, I just have to think of a name for him.

    Oh, how I know it! And once you start you can't get just one…they are like chips! Uh, but way more expensive. 😮 Harin caught my eye too. There was a limited version of her put out last year that I drooled over.

    Thanks, Aiobhgreine! 13 is a good age. 🙂 I decided she should be 13 since her sister Wednesday is 7. Argh, though. The wait is killing me. I've waited almost a month now and probably have about a month left to go. 😯 I'm so excited for her to get here.

    Actually my Minifee arrived a few weeks ago, although now her head is on the east coast getting a face-up. So, her headless body is hanging out on my dresser. haha

    I've seen pictures of ResinSoul Mei before and I think she's adorable. I love her elf ears. I can't wait to see pictures of your girl. She's about the same size as my Minifee too. It's a fun size even though they are so tiny compared to the big boys. 😀

    I really like DM Ipsae too. I've thought about getting her or Lisa Rubik sometime in the future. Maybe Alec can wear thick-soled shoes so she's not taller than him? 😉

    Wow, you remembered his name … color me surprised! I need a name for the new girl. I liked Jasmine, but Alec and Jasmine was way too Disney for me.

    His shoes are fairly thick, that could work. I need to get back on ebay and start saving for her. These dolls are oh-so-addictive!

    I just noticed that the picture I called the "3rd picture" in my last comment is actually the 2nd, because I clicked on the 3rd link thinking it was the picture I called "3rd" and realized it was the 2nd one, and I didn't actually mean that one…
    I'm probably not being very clear LOL!
    What I'm trying to say is that in my last comment, I meant she looks great in the picture where she has brown hair. :roll:

    BanSidhe: Alec is an easy name for me to remember since one of my Sims has the same name. 🙂 And, you're right, Jasmine and Alec does sound a bit Disney-esque. haha! I do think she looks like a Jasmine though. I adore the wig you have on her! It's so pretty. And she looks cute sitting in the big rocking chair.

    Aoibhgreine: haha!! Yeah, it all depends on if you start numbering counter-clockwise or clockwise. I really like that picture of her too.

    My Shushu arrived a few weeks ago. She's currently out getting her face-up done (I just saw the pictures of it this morning–wow! I'm so excited to get her home). I have a feeling mine will be wearing many different color wigs.
