First Blush

My newest doll came in last week (Tuesday the 3rd). I haven't shown him yet because I was really disappointed with how his face-up (done by Soom) came out. While I loved his smoky eyes, I thought his lips looked way too too girly.

But, yeah, they weren't going to work for him. So, I decided to redo them.

And this is how they turned out. They aren't perfect, but they'll do. Pretty damn good for my first attempt at any type of face-up whatsoever. haha I love how subtle his lips are now–much more masculine, I think.

The next thing to do was blush his body. This part took me several days because of all the rain we've had up here lately (you really can't spray the MSC [sealant] when it's rainy or really humid). I concentrated on doing a subtle and natural blush. I hate blushing that looks too obvious. I just wanted to emphasis where the shadows fall.

Anyway, here are all the parts drying after I sealed them all. It looks like some sort of weird surreal forest. 😯

heehee Okay, no more surreal pictures. I promise to show off his blush and sexy body later.

First though, I must restring him. Hmm…think I'll go do that right now, actually. Later!

    I think his lips so much better after you redid them. Here are my ignorances–How did you do the lips and I didn't know you could blush the body. Is that like a repaint? Love, Me

    Thank you, Mom! Basically, I just used chalk pastels and a paint brush (well, it's a little more complex than that, but not much). Other people might use acrylic paints for the lips or an air brush to blush.

    Thanks, Reyoko! His hands actually came in today (he had hands, obviously, as seen in the picture above, but I also ordered jointed hands for him that Soom forgot to ship with him). So, I've been busy sanding and blushing those.

    Oh, by the way, I saw on your website that you like Lee Jun Ki. He's hot, I must admit. :XO: Did you know that there is a BJD of him made by Souldoll? There are actually three different styles of him available. Pretty cool, huh?

    heehee Yeah, when I saw what the body parts looked like while they were drying, I just had to take a picture of it. Too funny! Poor guy. I've stripped all his dignity away. 😉

    *groan* 😉 And thank you! I just glued the nose ring on with Elmer's glue so it's very easy to remove with water and not permanent.

    But I'm not much of a collector.
    I mostly like to observe, worship and obsess. 😮

    I would like to get one though… 😳 the hottest one.

    It's funny how customizing BJDs and sims can be alike. Never realised. You choose the eyes, the face shape, the hair, the accessories…
    Look, you're ever making more masculine lips 😀
    And just as sims, they trully find their character when we pose them in pics and model their personalities…
    Lips are gorgeous, just as your sims one! Which I'm still a big fan of 😉

    Can't wait to see New Guy all stringed, wiged and dressed up. Because for now, I find surreal limbs forrest a tad creepy 😯

    He is kind of creepy all unstrung, isn't he? It definitely is weird having a doll pulled apart like that. They seem totally different from when they are strung together.

    And thank you about the lips! Someday, when I get better, I'll want to redo his entire face, but, for now, I can live with the rest of it.

    What did you use for sealant? The Japanese stuff I have seen as recommended seems so toxic …

    heehee 😉 Yeah, I don't think you can get away from the toxicity. I also use the Volks ZM Finishing Spray. Plus, I wear a mask when I spray, just in case, and spray out on my deck. Also, I don't spray on windy days so that I don't get a faceful of spray blown back in my face. :mrgreen:

    P.S. These are the masks that I got for spraying.
