Dr. Jones, I Presume…

September 7th, 2012

Dr. Jones, I presume... (1 of 6)

I previously mentioned that I got another action figure in addition to Jack Sparrow. Well, here he is—Indiana Jones—the fictional character that inspired me to get my degree in anthropology and archaeology. XD

I actually took these a couple of weeks ago, but have finally found time to post them. I didn't get as many photos of Indy because the Joe and Jack pics took up so much time (they are so demanding, those two) plus I was trying to hurry and finish up before my parents arrived. At the time, I was also waiting on a new body to arrive for Indy. He comes with a muscular body, which looks great if he's only wearing his shirt (or not wearing his shirt…haha) but it makes him hard to pose in his jacket. So, I got another body for him to use when he's wearing his jacket (the body for Assassin Creed's Ezio). He's much easier to pose now and the jacket hangs a lot better (it doesn't look as bulky). I got the idea from Deak Starkiller, so thank you very much, mate!

The outside of Indy's box. It's even bigger than Jack's. 😉

The textual frontispiece:
The year is 1936. Adolf Hitler is on a quest for the Ark of the Covenant, whose supernatural powers, legend says, can wipe out armies.

The U.S. Government wants to find the Ark before Hitler, and Army Intelligence turns to Dr. Indiana Jones, professor of archaeology at a small New England college. Recruited by the Army for the mission, Indy travels to Patan, Nepal, where he reunites with Marion Ravenwood—still bitter over their failed love affair. She joins forces with Indy to combat the Nazis on his trail as they flee and journey to Cairo.

Relentlessly pursued by Hitler's henchmen, Indy learns that his nemesis, the French grave robber Belloq, has been hired by the Nazis to lead their quest for the Ark. Indy infiltrates their massive digging operation to discover the Well of Souls, where the Ark has lain undisturbed for centuries.

Indy and Marion work together with the friend Sallah to retrieve the Ark but it's snatched from them by Belloq and the Nazis. They hold a ritual to learn its contents. Indy and Marion are forced to take part in the ceremony, lashed to a stake, Indy begs Marion not to look as the Ark emits a mysterious beam of light…

The map documenting Indiana's search for the Ark of the Covenant. (Here is a bigger version of the map if you'd like to be able to read the text better.)

"Yes, the actual Ten Commandments. The original stone tablets that Moses brought down out of Mount Horeb and smashed, if you believe that sort of thing…"

Indiana Jones! Like Jack Sparrow, he was securely packed in foam. All of his smaller accessories are beneath the cardboard. (If you like to read the text on the box, here's a bigger version of the photo.)

Most of Indy's accessories. Not shown are his Arab-style robes and headscarf from the Well of Souls scenes, the Staff of Ra, double-sided movie backdrop, and the stone pedastal that the Fertility Idol sits on in the movie. Yeah, he comes with a lot of stuff!

I liked the new body also when you changed it and his clothes did hang better but the muscular body is nice. He truly is a great doll and the story behind it and visiting the sight of one of the movies when you were younger was great. 😆

That was so much fun going to Arches and seeing where they filmed Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I liked the area before, but it was even cooler after. 😉

I love that closeup of his face! Wow!
