First Blush
June 11th, 2008
My newest doll came in last week (Tuesday the 3rd). I haven't shown him yet because I was really disappointed with how his face-up (done by Soom) came out. While I loved his smoky eyes, I thought his lips looked way too too girly.
Isle Challenge #1
June 8th, 2008
On flickr, I belong to a photography group called Isle of Misfit Toys that is "both a critique and a photo challenge board for BJD dolls." We had the first challenge this week.
Challenge #1 Triptych: DOF and Crop
The challenge was to create a triptych of your doll to practice various photography and editing techniques. The first picture was to be a full to 3/4 body shot that was fully in focus with the aperture of the camera stopped down below f/9. For the second picture, you were to zoom or move in closer to the doll and open the aperture to f/4 or below to demonstrate depth of field/bokeh (the blurring effect). The third picture was then to be cropped out of the first picture to highlight a point of interest.
Punk Elf

Well, it's come that time, finally, to re-introduce one of my favorite characers ever–Tahlvin Shadowtalon. Bare resin has been brought to life by the amazing face-up and modifications of Suzy (Switchblade Aesthetics).
Fitting Wigs
June 1st, 2008
Edited June 3, 2008: Thanks to my awesome Sis, my little doll now has a name. Please meet Wednesday! She's named after the day she arrived and another famous Wednesday.
For the past three days, since she arrived, the Lati Green Girl has been sitting around in her pajamas.
A couple weeks before she arrived, I received three mohair wigs by Tinybear. As Tinybear warns in the pamphlet she includes with her wigs, the wig caps were a bit tight and I couldn't get them over my doll's head.
So, following Tinybear's instructions, I wet the leather wig caps and then stretched them gently until I could fit them over her head to dry. I put plastic wrap over her head to protect from water damage and staining.
The above wig was the first one to finish drying so in this picture, she actually isn't wearing the protective plastic since the leather has already dry. Of the three wigs, I think this Grape one is my favorite. It matches her make-up perfectly.
